In the heart of Phoenix, Arizona lies Papago Park—a haven for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and families seeking a scenic escape. On a bustling weekend, amidst the iconic red rocks and unique geological formations, I met with the Morales/Watson clan to capture their family photos! This particular family session is uniquely special as I have know the Morales family for many, many years! As a family photographer, I was excited to capture the essence of their connection against the breathtaking backdrop of Papago Park.
I was absolutely blown away by their outfit coordination… I could tell right away they put a lot of time and effort into their style and it makes ALL the difference. Dressed in a palette that seamlessly blended with the warm desert hues—earthy browns, neutrals, and light shades—they effortlessly stood out against the red rocks. The thoughtful selection of colors not only complemented each family member but also enhanced the overall aesthetic of the photographs, adding a touch of cohesion and elegance.
One of the advantages of shooting at Papago Park is the many picturesque pockets scattered throughout the landscape. Despite the hustle and bustle around the Hole in the Rock, we were able to find serene spots that provided the perfect backdrop for intimate family portraits. This flexibility is what makes Papago Park a photographer’s dream and allows families like this beautiful crew to escape the crowds and create authentic moments.
This was such a treat to capture a series of photographs that will undoubtedly be cherished for generations to come. And to do so for a family whom is so special to me and has such a beautiful, unique bond with one another!
