Sunrise Family Photo Session at Papago Park in Phoenix, Arizona

Papago Park in the morning, especially an overcast morning, is a total dream. The beautiful red rock mountains surrounded by cacti, palms, and lots of open land - it's a perfect spot for hiking, sunrise/sunset watching, a picnic by the lake, and of course family photos! Conveniently located in Phoenix, this location is a great spot for photos thanks to the variety and close proximity to Scottsdale, Tempe, and Phoenix. This was my first session back at Papago since last fall season, and I was a bit disappointed to see that they had cut back the tall pampas grass surrounding parts of the lake. The pampas grass was one of my go-to backdrops for my clients, it was so beautiful and unique! There are still many great spots to shoot at around the park despite this.

The Holt family was visiting from Alabama and reached out for family photos while in town - I so enjoyed working with this family.. it's a neat opportunity to work with visiting families! I realize the Arizona landscape is so unique to many other parts of the country - which even helps me take a step back and acknowledge how privileged I am to photograph in such a landscape.
